ASME SA179/A179 seamless U-tube is a standardized tube made of low-carbon steel seamless tube precisely cold-bent into a U shape.

 

Due to its excellent thermal conductivity, reliable pressure resistance (seamless structure), good processability and thermal compensation capability (U-shaped design), it has become one of the preferred materials for heat transfer tubes in shell and tube heat exchangers and is widely used in the core parts of heat exchange equipment in the power, petrochemical, HVAC and other industries.

Application

 

 

Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers

 

Condensers:
In power plants and chemical plants, steam is condensed into liquid water. The U-shaped tube can expand freely to avoid thermal stress causing leakage at the tube sheet interface.

 

Evaporators:
Used for liquid vaporization in refrigeration and chemical processes, the U-shaped structure is compact and improves evaporation efficiency.

 

Oil Coolers/Process Fluid Heat Exchangers:
Cooling lubricating oil or process media in petrochemicals and ships, the pressure resistance of seamless tubes ensures safe operation.

 

Boiler Systems

Low-pressure boiler economizers:
Recover flue gas waste heat to preheat boiler feed water, and the thermal conductivity of low-carbon steel optimizes heat recovery efficiency.

 

Low-pressure superheaters:
Superheating low-temperature steam (usually ≤400°C), U-shaped elbows relieve thermal expansion stress.
